What is career coaching?
Career coaching is a structured, future‑focused and action-based form of guidance designed to help you clarify professional goals, develop skills and create practical strategies for progression or transition.
The sessions offer a supportive space for clients to explore strengths, values, motivations and opportunities. Tools are incorporated into sessions such as reflective exercises and goal‑setting frameworks. The process is always collaborative and designed to empower. Sessions can be useful for navigating personal and work challenges such as changing industries, returning to work, starting a new business, preparing for promotion, or finding direction during periods of uncertainty or life change.
How does career coaching work with therapeutic coaching?
Therapeutic coaching adds an additional layer of depth to standard career coaching by integrating psychological insight with traditional coaching techniques. While it is not therapy, it draws on therapeutic models - such as cognitive behavioural approaches, mindset work and emotional resilience techniques.
It can help address the internal barriers that may hold someone back professionally. This form of coaching acknowledges that career development is often influenced by confidence, identity, habitual patterns of behaviour, personal challenges and past experiences. By combining practical career support with emotional and psychological awareness, therapeutic coaching helps clients not only move forward in their careers but do so with greater wellbeing, clarity, and long‑term personal growth.
Together, career coaching and therapeutic coaching create a holistic space for clients to explore both the practical “what” of their careers and the personal “why” behind their aspirations, resulting in more confident, authentic decision‑making and a stronger sense of purpose.
